Look around.

TCN is pleased to be partnering with Chuck Wolfe, Founder and Principal Advisor of Seeing Better Cities Group, on this exciting project. We are using the LENS method outlined in his book, Seeing the Better City,  as the core of a readily accessible, systematic approach to public space observation.

Eyes on the Street Project is a collaboration between TCN and Chuck Wolfe, Founder and Principal Advisor of Seeing Better Cities Group (SBCG). This team has the combined experience of 13+ years of research, writing, and analysis on urban environments, and we are excited to channel our expertise towards increasing the wellbeing of cities.

The project expands upon the LENS method outlined in Chuck’s book, Seeing the Better City,  as the core of a readily accessible, quantifiable, and systematic approach to citizen public space observation.

The goal of the project is to provide urban planners and decision makers with expanded public input, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions and prioritize projects from the “community's-eye view.

In Phase 1, TCN and CBCG will release a static Public Space Observation Guide in the format of an infographic. This will be a free public resource. Eyes On the Street Project will host events that teach the public how to utilize this guide, and work to engage the community around conducting public space observations.

In Phase 2, we will build a mobile app explicitly designed to facilitate the use of the Public Space Observation Guide in a fun and interactive way. The app will transmit observations directly to your local urban planners and decision-makers, making it a convenient and user-friendly tool for citizens to engage with their municipality.
